Naucalpan launches summer water‑conservation program for children

The Government of Naucalpan, through the Organismo de Agua Potable, Alcantarillado y Saneamiento (OAPAS) and in coordination with the Comisión del Agua del Estado de México (CAEM), inaugurated the summer course “Hidro Detectives 2026.” More than 50 children will attend three weeks of workshops, experiments and recreational activities aimed at fostering responsible water use and turning participants into community water‑care promoters.

The initiative is backed by municipal president Isaac Montoya and highlighted by OAPAS director Gregorio Ramos. At the launch, the “Ágora del Agua” rain‑water capture demonstration was unveiled in Parque Naucalli. The structure can collect up to 10,000 liters of rainwater, store it in tanks and illustrate the urban water cycle. CAEM’s Mónica Antonio Antonio explained its educational purpose, while student Sofia O. Hernández presented her award‑winning science project, encouraging curiosity and environmental stewardship among the youngsters.
