Naucalpan water‑conservation education program

The municipal water agency of Naucalpan (OAPAS), in partnership with the State of Mexico Water Commission (CAEM), inaugurated a summer course called “Hidro Detectives 2026.” The three‑week program, aimed at children, combines workshops, experiments and recreational activities to promote responsible water use and turn participants into community water‑care promoters.

More than 50 children enrolled, and the launch featured the unveiling of the “Ágora del Agua” rain‑water capture demonstration in Parque Naucalli. The structure can collect up to 10,000 liters of rainwater, store it in tanks and illustrate the urban water cycle. Municipal president Isaac Montoya, OAPAS director Gregorio Ramos, and CAEM’s Mónica Antonio highlighted the educational goals, while student Sofia O. Hernández presented an award‑winning science project to encourage curiosity and environmental stewardship.

The initiative reflects ongoing local efforts to raise awareness of water conservation among youth and to showcase practical rain‑water harvesting solutions in the community.
