Naval forces hold commemorative ceremonies for Day of the Dead

Naval authorities in Mexico and Spain are conducting ceremonies to honor the deceased during the Day of the Dead festivities.

In Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, the Twelfth Naval Zone of the Mexican Navy participated in the Puerto Vallarta International Day of the Dead Festival. The Navy presented a traditional naval altar at the Municipal Presidency and the Malecón to preserve Mexican traditions and honor the memory of the departed. The artistic displays are open to the public through November 15.

In Ferrol, Spain, the Spanish Navy will hold a tribute to those who died for the country on November 2. The ceremony, presided over by Vice Admiral Vicente Rubio Bolívar, will include a mass at the San Francisco military church and a formal act at the municipal cemetery. The event will feature a wreath-laying ceremony, musical performances by the Tercio del Norte Music Unit, and a rifle salute.
