Navantia launches first vessel in seven years for Spanish Navy
Navantia has announced the launch of the Maritime Action Vessel for Underwater Intervention (BAM IS), named Poseidón, at its Puerto Real shipyard. This marks the first vessel launch at the facility in seven years.
Constructed for the Spanish Navy to replace the Neptuno, the project represents an investment exceeding 221 million euros. The program aims to provide advanced mission capabilities while strengthening the national defense industrial and technological base. The vessel features national design authority, ensuring Spanish control over engineering, construction, and future modernization.
The project is expected to have a significant economic impact on the Bay of Cádiz, with estimates suggesting over 1.3 million work hours and the creation of approximately 1,100 jobs across direct, collaborative, and induced sectors.
