Navantia maritime vessel launch and training initiative
Overview
Navantia has launched the Poseidón, a Maritime Action Vessel for Underwater Intervention (BAM IS), at its Puerto Real shipyard. Built for the Spanish Navy to replace the Neptuno, the project involves an investment exceeding 221 million euros and represents the first vessel launch at the facility in seven years.
The program is intended to provide advanced mission capabilities and strengthen the national defense industrial and technological base through national design authority. The project is expected to generate approximately 1,100 jobs and significant economic impact in the Bay of Cádiz.
To support industrial demand, Navantia is also establishing the Navantia Academy, which will partner with universities and vocational centers to train specialized professionals for the company and its supply chain.
