Navarre Minister Defends Azkoyen Deal as Spain's Industry Pushes Decarbonisation
Navarre's Minister of Industry and Ecological Transition, Mikel Irujo, said the planned friendly takeover of the historic Navarrese company Azkoyen will not jeopardise its local roots. He stressed that the transaction is an "industrial" operation, not a fund‑driven acquisition, and that Azkoyen remains a flagship for the region's industry.
Former Spanish Industry Minister Francisco Blanco argued that decarbonisation and renewable energy represent Spain's greatest industrial opportunity in centuries. He highlighted the country's abundant solar and wind resources, low‑cost renewable power and the potential to attract EU investment, calling the shift to clean energy a decisive competitive advantage for the nation.
