Navarre's Ezkaba Forest Fire Contained, Hotspots Remain
A forest fire ignited on Thursday on the slopes of Ezkaba mountain in Navarre. The regional government said the blaze is now under control, with no active front, thanks to recent humidity and rain that have aided firefighting efforts.
Authorities highlighted the coordinated work of firefighters, civil guard, forest rangers, medical teams, local police and farmers who helped contain the fire. While most of the blaze has been extinguished, a few hot spots and small remaining flames are expected to be fully doused in the coming days.
The improved weather has also led to a lift of the restrictions on agricultural and forestry activities that were imposed when the fire started. The existing fire‑prevention and control plan, renewed on 25 May, will remain in force. Governor María Chivite thanked municipal officials and the Spanish Government for their support.
