Naver partners with Girin Energy for 216MW solar project

Naver has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Asian renewable energy developer Girin Energy to secure renewable power for its data centers. Under this agreement, Naver plans to invest in a stake in the ‘Jindo Green Solar’ project in Jindo, South Korea, which has a capacity of 216MW, and pursue a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).

The renewable energy generated from this project will be used to power Naver’s AI and cloud infrastructure, including the ‘GAK Sejong’ and ‘GAK Chuncheon’ data centers. Naver aims to finalize the main contract by the end of this year. This move is part of the company’s ‘2040 Carbon Negative’ initiative, following a previous investment and PPA with GS Wind Power in April.
