Naver AI infrastructure and energy expansion

Overview

Naver is expanding its artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure through large-scale industrial partnerships and renewable energy initiatives.

In early September 2026, Naver and Brookfield Corporation announced plans to develop a 1GW-class global AI factory. The initial phase of this project involves a 200MW capacity build-out with an investment of up to $9 billion, combining Naver’s AI technology with Brookfield’s infrastructure and asset management expertise.

To support its growing infrastructure, Naver signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Girin Energy to secure renewable power. This includes a planned stake in the 216MW ‘Jindo Green Solar’ project in South Korea. The energy generated is intended to power Naver’s AI and cloud data centers, such as ‘GAK Sejong’ and ‘GAK Chuncheon’, as part of the company’s ‘2040 Carbon Negative’ initiative.
