Navi Mumbai: School bus driver arrested for assaulting 3-year-old girl
A 30-year-old private school bus driver has been arrested in the Kamothe area of Navi Mumbai for the alleged sexual assault of a three-year-old girl. The incident occurred on a Wednesday afternoon when the child was the last student remaining on the bus after others had been dropped off.
The victim reported abdominal pain to her grandmother upon returning home, subsequently disclosing the assault. A medical examination confirmed the sexual assault. Following the report, the Kamothe police registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The accused was presented before the Panvel Court and has been remanded to police custody until Saturday. The incident has raised significant concerns regarding student safety and the oversight of private transport contracted by schools.
