Overview

A case of attempted assault and molestation was registered against a cab driver near Navi Mumbai Airport in Maharashtra. The victim, a woman traveling from Chembur to Panvel, reported that the driver, Mohammad Afzal Shaikh, pulled the vehicle over on a deserted stretch of the Airport Service Road during the early hours of the morning.

According to police reports, the driver exited the vehicle before re-entering to sit in the rear seat next to the passenger, where he allegedly grabbed her hand and attempted to disrobe her. The woman escaped the vehicle and alerted her family, after which the driver fled. The Navi Mumbai Airport Police have filed a case under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and are using technical intelligence to locate the suspect.
