Navitime Japan launches new navigation features for roadkill prevention and bus stops
Navitime Japan has introduced two significant updates to its navigation services to improve driver safety and public transit usability.
The company launched a roadkill prevention feature within its NAVITIME Drive Supporter app. Utilizing data from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, the app identifies 546 high-risk zones across Japan where wildlife collisions are frequent. The feature provides audio and visual alerts to warn drivers of approaching animals, such as deer, wild boar, and foxes, to prevent accidents caused by sudden braking or swerving. Navitime plans to share data regarding driver speed changes in these zones with the Ministry to assist in future road safety and environmental protection policies.
Additionally, the Bus NAVITIME app has added a Bus Stop Map feature covering 7,425 stations nationwide. This update aims to solve the problem of passengers struggling to locate specific bus stops near large terminals like Shinjuku or Shibuya. The new function allows users to view bus stops in relation to station exits, perform reverse searches to find which boarding points serve a specific destination, and locate nearby stops based on their current position.
