Navsari, Gujarat Hit by Heavy Rain Flooding, Roads Closed

Heavy monsoon rains have caused severe flooding in Navsari district, Gujarat. In Chikhli and Vansda talukas up to 10 inches of rain fell, leading to water‑logged streets and water backing up onto the Delhi‑Mumbai National Highway. Authorities closed 42 roads across the district, including 14 in Gandevi and 12 in Navsari town, to protect public safety.

The flooding extended to major neighbourhoods such as Lunsekui, Charpuls, Shantadevi Road and Sarbatiya Talav, where water inundated shops, bus stations and market stalls. Residents reported disrupted traffic, heightened accident risk and damage to goods. Local officials warned that the city’s drainage system failed to cope with the rapid rainfall and called for immediate improvements.

The event is part of a broader pattern of heavy rains affecting many districts in Gujarat, prompting concerns about pre‑monsoon preparedness and infrastructure resilience.
