Navy sailor and family of four found dead in Mumbai residence
Four members of a family, including an Indian Navy sailor, were found dead in a government residence in the Navy Nagar area of Cuffe Parade, Mumbai. The deceased have been identified as 30-year-old sailor Purnamal Shambhulal Mehra, his 28-year-old wife Oma, their three-year-old son Yash, and their two-month-old daughter.
According to police reports, Purnamal's body was found hanging in a room, while the bodies of his wife and two children were discovered on a bed. A post-mortem conducted at J.J. Hospital confirmed that Purnamal died of asphyxiation due to hanging. While investigators suspect the wife and children may have died from poisoning, official causes of death for the three remain pending chemical and forensic reports.
Preliminary investigations suggest potential marital disputes within the family. It was reported that the couple had frequent arguments, and a week prior, Oma's father had attempted to take the family back to their hometown in Rajasthan. No suicide note was recovered from the scene, and forensic teams found no suspicious substances during their initial search. The Cuffe Parade police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
