Nayara Energy hikes petrol and diesel prices in India
Nayara Energy, India’s largest private fuel retailer, has increased petrol prices by 5 rupees per litre and diesel prices by 3 rupees per litre, effective Saturday. The hike follows rising international crude oil prices, driven by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
The company, which operates over 7,000 petrol pumps across the country, stated the move is intended to narrow the gap between rising costs and retail selling prices. This marks the second price increase by Nayara this year, following a similar hike in March due to supply disruptions caused by conflict in West Asia.
While Nayara has implemented these changes, major public sector fuel retailers, including Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), have kept retail prices stable despite global market volatility. Additionally, commercial LPG prices for 19kg cylinders saw an increase of 62.50 rupees earlier this week, and aviation turbine fuel prices rose by 16 rupees per litre.
