Nayef Aguerd set for loan move from Marseille to Real Sociedad

Moroccan international defender Nayef Aguerd, 30, is poised to join Spanish club Real Sociedad on a season‑long loan from Olympique de Marseille. The deal includes an obligation for Real Sociedad to purchase Aguerd permanently, after which he will sign a five‑year contract with the Basque side.

Aguerd remains under contract with Marseille until 2030, but the French club is looking to reduce its wage bill and meet the DNCG’s financial requirements. Real Sociedad, the recent Copa del Rey champions, aim to bolster their defence ahead of their Europa League campaign under coach Pellegrino Matarazzo. The transfer marks Aguerd’s return to La Liga, where he previously spent a loan spell while contracted to West Ham United.
