Several legal proceedings and criminal cases are currently unfolding across Turkey.
In Aydın, a court has acquitted defendant Ö. K. of the charge of 'intentional killing of a woman' in the death of university student Büşra Cin. The court cited digital evidence, including voice and video recordings from Cin's phone where she expressed emotional distress and bid farewell to her family, as significant factors. However, Ö. K. was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison and fined 5,000 Turkish Lira for possession of an unlicensed firearm.
In Eskişehir, the trial has commenced for a 15-year-old boy, M. F. Y., accused of 'intentional killing of a child' after a hunting rifle discharged during play, resulting in the death of his friend Bünyamin Bozkurt. The defendant testified that the discharge was accidental while he was handling the weapon.
Other notable cases include the sentencing of Ümitcan Uygun to 4 years in prison for 'inciting suicide' in the death of Sema Esen (known as Aleyna Çakır), and ongoing proceedings in Diyarbakır regarding the murder of İlayda Alkaş. Additionally, a long-standing 15-year blood feud between the Yıldız and İlpars families in the Bulanık district has reportedly been resolved through a peace ceremony involving local religious leaders.
