Nazım Hikmet exhibition to open in İzmir

The Nazım Hikmet exhibition, titled ‘ROMANTİKA / Bir Ömrün Seyrüseferi’, is scheduled to open in İzmir on September 5, 2026. Hosted by the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality and produced by Folkart, the exhibition will coincide with the 95th İzmir International Fair.

Set in the Kültürpark Atlas Pavilion, the exhibition is described as the most comprehensive display of the poet's life and works in Turkey. Spanning approximately 2,125 square meters across 15 halls, it will feature hundreds of documents, manuscripts, personal belongings, and audiovisual recordings sourced from various individuals, institutions, and archives both within Turkey and abroad.

The exhibition, curated by M. Melih Güneş and designed by Ömer Durmaz, aims to explore Hikmet's life beyond a traditional biography by integrating literature with disciplines such as painting, sculpture, photography, and film. The title ‘Romantika’ is derived from the name Hikmet originally chose for his 1962 autobiographical novel, ‘Yaşamak Güzel Şey Be Kardeşim’. The exhibition also highlights Hikmet's historical connections to İzmir, specifically his time there in 1925.
