NBA 2K27 reveals new gameplay features and historical Eras mode

Visual Concepts has unveiled new features and gameplay improvements for the upcoming basketball simulation, NBA 2K27. During a presentation at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, developers highlighted several major additions, including the introduction of female player profiles in ‘The City’ to bolster WNBA representation and a cooperative mode for ‘MyCareer’.

A significant new feature is the ‘Eras’ system, which allows players to experience different historical periods of basketball, such as the Magic vs. Bird era (1984), the Michael Jordan era (1991), Kobe Bryant (2003), LeBron James (2010), and Stephen Curry (2016). The game continues to utilize ‘ProPlay’ technology, which uses real-world player footage to create highly realistic movement and animations for both current stars and legends.

Technical updates aimed at addressing community feedback include smarter AI defenders that contest shots more effectively and a fully dynamic Dunk Meter that re-evaluates defender positions in real-time. While most modes require an internet connection, certain features like local co-op, split-screen exhibition games, and specific single-player modes in ‘The W’ and ‘MyNBA’ will remain playable offline using base or manually saved rosters.
