NBC announces civilian cast for ‘The Traitors: New Blood’

NBC has announced the premiere of ‘The Traitors: New Blood,’ a new civilian-led edition of the reality competition series. Premiering on September 17, the season features 22 ordinary Americans selected from over 80,000 applicants, moving away from the celebrity and reality-TV veteran casts seen in previous iterations.

Hosted by Alan Cumming, the season aims to increase deception and unpredictability by using contestants without established television reputations. The cast includes various professionals, such as an astrophysicist and a funeral director. The prize fund for the contestants is worth up to $250,000.

The premiere will consist of a two-hour special featuring the first two episodes. Subsequent episodes are scheduled for September 24, with new episodes airing Thursdays on NBC and streaming the following day on Peacock.
