NBC expands 'The Traitors' franchise with non-celebrity cast

NBC is expanding its 'The Traitors' franchise with a new iteration titled 'The Traitors: New Blood,' set to premiere on September 17. In a departure from previous seasons, this version will feature a cast composed entirely of non-celebrities and reality TV veterans. Out of more than 80,000 applicants, 22 contestants were selected to participate.

The competition maintains the established format where contestants reside in a castle in the Scottish Highlands. Participants must complete challenges to build a prize pool of up to $250,000. The game involves 'Faithfuls' attempting to identify 'Traitors' who secretly eliminate players during the night. If a Traitor reaches the end of the game, they can claim the entire prize.

Alan Cumming returns as the host. The premiere will consist of a two-hour special on NBC, with episodes available for streaming on Peacock the following day.
