NBEMS conducts NEET-PG 2026 exam amid Jaipur technical disruptions

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) conducted the NEET-PG 2026 examination on August 30 across 1,300 centres in India. Approximately 2.66 lakh medical graduates appeared for the test. While the majority of the exam proceeded with extensive security measures, including Aadhaar-based authentication and CCTV surveillance, a significant technical disruption occurred at the iON Digital Zone centres in Sitapura, Jaipur. An internal power failure, attributed to technological partner TCS Ltd, prevented candidates at these locations from completing the exam, leading to student protests. NBEMS has scheduled a re-examination for the approximately 2,445 affected students on September 5 in Jaipur.

In a separate development regarding medical licensing, NBEMS announced changes to the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) schedule following candidate protests. The board will now conduct the FMGE three times a year, with an additional exam scheduled for October 31, 2026. Consequently, the exam previously slated for January 9, 2027, has been postponed to a later date in early 2027. These reforms include adjustments to question difficulty levels and increased transparency in marking processes.
