NCDMB advocates for Pan-African local content alliance

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) is advocating for increased collaboration among African nations to maximize the continent’s local content potential. During a strategic engagement in Namibia regarding African local content opportunities and cross-border partnerships, the board emphasized that deeper cooperation could accelerate economic diversification and industrial growth within the oil and gas value chain.

Dr. Abdulmalik Halilu, representing NCDMB Executive Secretary Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, noted that many African countries have already established regulatory frameworks that provide a foundation for regional integration. He suggested that harmonizing local content policies and fostering strategic partnerships among African businesses would help retain more value within the continent.

The initiative aligns with the 2025 APPO Ministerial Council Brazzaville Declaration, which seeks to strengthen supplier capacity, support skills development, and encourage joint ventures. Dr. Halilu highlighted existing African capabilities in sectors such as fabrication, engineering, manufacturing, subsea services, and marine operations as key assets for this industrialization effort.
