Nigerian oil and gas local content initiatives
Overview
The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has moved to strengthen the domestic and regional oil and gas sectors through new financial and strategic initiatives.
In late July 2026, the NCDMB and the Bank of Industry inaugurated an investment committee for the $100 million Nigerian Content Equity Fund (NCEF). This fund is designed to provide long-term equity financing to indigenous oil-field service companies, manufacturers, and fabrication yards, aiming to replace traditional debt instruments and lower service costs while creating thousands of jobs.
Following this domestic launch, the NCDMB expanded its focus to regional cooperation. During a strategic engagement in Namibia, the board advocated for a Pan-African local content alliance. The initiative seeks to harmonize local content policies and foster cross-border partnerships among African nations to accelerate economic diversification and retain more value within the continent’s oil and gas value chain.
