NCDMB launches technical training and pushes for higher local content in Nigeria

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has launched a 12-month technical training program in collaboration with Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited. Located at Nigeria Machine Tools Limited in Osun State, the initiative aims to equip 60 Nigerians with specialized expertise in oil and gas engineering and other critical technical skills. The curriculum includes engineering design, computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), and electrical and mechanical maintenance, combining classroom instruction with supervised on-the-job training.

In a separate effort to bolster the sector, the NCDMB is urging indigenous oil and gas companies to increase their competitiveness in international markets. The Board is working toward a strategic goal of raising local content participation to 70 percent by 2027. Key drivers for this growth include improving access to assets, financing, and technology. To support these objectives, the NCDMB utilizes the Nigerian Content Intervention Fund, which has provided over US$400 million to more than 130 indigenous companies through the Bank of Industry and NEXIM Bank.
