NCDMB seeks Chinese manufacturing investment for Nigeria oil and gas sector

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) is actively seeking to attract over 100 Chinese Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to invest in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector. During the 15th China Shale Oil and Gas Summit in Chengdu, China, NCDMB representatives emphasized a desire to transition from a traditional buyer-seller relationship to a partnership focused on investment, technology transfer, and local manufacturing.

Austin Uzoka, representing Executive Secretary Felix Omatsola Ogbe, stated that Nigeria aims to be a strategic investment destination and a manufacturing platform for the wider African market. He highlighted the Nigerian Oil and Gas Park Scheme (NOGaPS) as a primary venue for Chinese companies to establish assembly, service, and manufacturing operations.

Under the Nigerian Oil and Gas Content Development (NOGICD) Act, manufacturing facilities established within Nigeria are guaranteed patronage from the industry. This initiative is intended to integrate Nigerian businesses into global supply chains and leverage China’s expertise in engineering and energy infrastructure to support Nigeria’s industrial development.
