NDA alliance finalizes seat sharing for Andhra Pradesh local bodies

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Andhra Pradesh has finalized seat-sharing arrangements for 123 urban local bodies, including 17 municipal corporations and 106 municipalities and nagar panchayats. Under the agreement, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) holds the largest share, contesting 11 municipal corporations and 78 municipalities. Jana Sena has been allotted four municipal corporations and 21 municipalities, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will contest two corporations and seven municipalities.

However, the allocation has triggered internal friction within the alliance. In Tiruvuru, TDP MLA Kolikapudi Srinivasa Rao has expressed dissatisfaction over the decision to allot the municipality to Jana Sena and is reportedly backing a separate TDP candidate, Naga Sravani, for the municipal chairperson post. Similarly, in Salur, the decision to award the municipal chairperson post to Jana Sena has caused resentment among TDP leaders, prompting Minister Gummidi Sandhyarani to appeal to the alliance leadership for a review.
