N’Djamena launches cholera vaccination campaign
Health authorities in N’Djamena, Chad, have launched a seven-day cholera vaccination campaign to combat the persistent spread of the disease in the capital. The initiative, announced by Nguetora Antoine, an incident manager for the Ministry of Public Health and Prevention, targets individuals aged one year and older who have not previously received the vaccine.
The vaccination strategy involves fixed sites at health centers in the 6th, 7th, and 9th arrondissements, as well as specific hospitals within those districts. Officials stated the goal is to “strengthen the collective immunity of the populations in order to break the chain of cholera transmission.”
Despite ongoing response efforts, cholera cases continue to rise in the city. Health authorities are maintaining high vigilance, emphasizing the need for continued epidemiological surveillance, patient care, risk communication, and improvements in water, hygiene, and sanitation.
