Nea Makri to host blood and bone marrow donation event

The Allwyn Care program, in collaboration with Bloode and Choose Life, is organizing a voluntary blood donation and bone marrow donor registration event in Nea Makri on Saturday, September 5, 2026. The event will take place at the ‘Thalpos’ hall from 10:00 to 16:00.

Supported by the Municipality of Marathon and the Agios Savvas Cancer Hospital, the initiative aims to replenish blood supplies following the summer months. Organizers noted that in Greece, only 65% of blood needs are currently met, and one in three patients cannot find a compatible bone marrow donor. The event provides an opportunity for citizens to register as bone marrow donors via a simple saliva sample and to contribute to the hospital's blood reserves.
