Allwyn Care blood and bone marrow donation initiative

Overview

The Allwyn Care ‘Life Savers’ initiative, in collaboration with the NGO Bloode and the organization Choose Life, is conducting a series of voluntary blood donation and bone marrow registration drives across Greece to bolster hospital reserves.

Following an initial event in Nea Makri on September 5, 2026, the program scheduled an action in Ioannina at Mavili Square for September 15. The initiative aims to address critical shortages, noting that in Greece, only 65% of blood needs are met and one in three patients lacks a compatible bone marrow donor.

In October 2026, the campaign expanded to Thessaloniki, with donation drives scheduled for October 9 at the Aristotle University Polytechnic School and October 10 at the Thessaloniki Waterfront. These efforts are intended to support AHEPA University Hospital and Hippokrateio General Hospital. Additionally, a drive is planned for October 20 in Patras at Georgiou Square, in collaboration with the University Hospital of Rio. Throughout these locations, Choose Life will conduct awareness campaigns regarding bone marrow donation to strengthen public health structures and foster a culture of voluntary contribution.
