Nea Salamis condemns attack on volunteers in Cyprus

Nea Salamis Famagusta has issued a formal condemnation following an organized attack on its volunteers at the ‘Ammochostos – Epistrofi’ Stadium auxiliary field. The incident occurred late on the night of Sunday, August 23, following the conclusion of the club’s Fan Day event.

According to the club’s Board of Directors, a group of 40 to 50 hooded individuals launched an unprovoked attack on volunteers who had remained at the site to protect event equipment. The assault resulted in several volunteers sustaining serious injuries, requiring hospitalization.

The club expressed deep concern regarding the response of the police, noting local reports that authorities had been informed of suspicious individuals near the stadium prior to the incident. Nea Salamis stated it will file an official complaint with the police, providing all available evidence, and is calling for a thorough investigation to identify and prosecute those responsible.
