Neapolitan culture and history featured in new book releases

Two new books focusing on Neapolitan heritage and history are set for release in Italy.

Chef Ciro Salatiello and journalist Peppe Iannicelli have authored ‘Ammammato Ammammato’, a volume exploring the evolution of Neapolitan gastronomy. The book traces the culinary history of the region, from the devotional cooking of nuns to the sophisticated dishes prepared by the ‘monsù’ for the Bourbon court. The title refers to the perfect blending of ingredients that characterizes the local culinary identity.

In the realm of sports history, Gian Paolo Porreca is releasing a book through LeVarie to celebrate the return of the Giro di Campania to the UCI international calendar. The volume chronicles the 116-year history of the cycling race, which was originally founded in 1911. The book features cover art by Andrea Delehaye honoring cycling legends such as Gino Bartali and Fausto Coppi, and includes a preface by Davide Cassani.
