Poland starts Territorial Defense volunteer training for hundreds

The Polish Ministry of Defence’s summer programme “Wakacje z WOT” (also reported as “Wakacje z wojskiem”) began in early July across several Territorial Defence brigades. In Braniewo, more than 130 candidates entered a 16‑day basic course while over 50 soldiers took an 8‑day refresher course for the 4th Warmian‑Masurian Border Defence Brigade.

In the 2nd Lublin Brigade, 188 volunteers – 160 beginners and 28 reservists – started training on 3 July, with the course concluding in a swearing‑in ceremony in Radzyn Podlaski. A similar cohort of nearly 200 volunteers reported to Lublin later in the month.

The programme culminates with oath‑taking ceremonies, such as the 4 July ceremony at the 2nd Radio‑Electronic Centre in Przasnysz, where colonel Bogusław Postek praised participants, saying they “gave their all.” The next edition is slated to begin in early September, reflecting strong interest among students, pupils and young workers.
