Nebraska to vote on online sports wagering measures in November

Nebraska voters will decide on the legalization of online sports wagering during the November 3 general election. The Secretary of State has certified two separate measures: a constitutional amendment to authorize online wagering and a regulatory initiative to establish the legal and tax framework for the industry.

Because the measures are separate, voters could potentially approve one while rejecting the other. If both pass, existing racetrack casinos could offer online betting or partner with sportsbook operators. The proposed framework allows each casino to partner with up to two online platforms.

Campaign funding for the initiatives includes approximately $3.5 million each from FanDuel and DraftKings. Proponents, including the group Tax Relief Nebraska, suggest that the move could generate $87 million in tax revenue over five years. Under the proposed plan, 70% of these gambling tax revenues would be directed toward property tax credits.
