NEC launches 999‑gram LAVIE BM94C business laptop with 30‑hour battery life

NEC Personal Computers unveiled the LAVIE BM94C, a business notebook that weighs just 999 g and is priced at 584,100 yen (about $3,570). The device is being released only in Japan and targets professionals who need extreme portability.

The laptop uses aerospace‑grade carbon‑fibre laminate supplied by Toray for a rigid yet ultra‑light chassis. It houses a 99.9 Wh battery that delivers roughly 30.5 hours of video playback and up to 50.8 hours in standby under JEITA 3.0 testing. A 30‑minute charge provides about eight hours of operation, and an AI‑driven Long Battery Mode analyses power‑hungry applications to extend runtime and reduce long‑term degradation.

Power is supplied by Intel Core Ultra 5 or 7 processors, with memory options from 16 GB to 32 GB and storage choices of 256 GB, 512 GB or 1 TB SSD. The 14‑inch WUXGA display features a 16:10 aspect ratio, and the notebook includes fingerprint‑resistant, abrasion‑resistant coatings for durability.
