NEC Nijmegen draws 1-1 against Ajax in Eredivisie

NEC Nijmegen secured a 1-1 draw against Ajax at the Johan Cruyff Arena during the eighth round of the Dutch Eredivisie. Ajax took an early lead in the 7th minute when Tolu Arokodare scored with a header following a cross from Jordi Mokio.

However, the lead was short-lived. In the 19th minute, Mokio committed a foul against Noah Le Breton in the penalty area, resulting in a penalty for NEC. Tjaron Chery converted the spot-kick to equalize. Although NEC had a chance to take the lead in the 58th minute through Chery, the goal was disallowed due to offside.

Despite heavy pressure from Ajax in the second half, including a notable save by NEC goalkeeper Gonzalo Creta in the 76th minute, the score remained tied. Following the match, Ajax sits in 5th place with 15 points, while NEC occupies 11th place with 9 points. NEC is scheduled to face Levski Sofia in the Europa League on October 15.
