NECO Refutes 'Miracle Centre' Claim for Kogi State School After Kidnapping

The National Examinations Council (NECO) issued a statement rejecting the Kogi State Commissioner’s description of Government Secondary School, Olowa, in Dekina LGA as a “miracle centre.” The council emphasized that the school is a publicly owned institution that has participated in senior secondary examinations for over two decades. NECO provided enrollment figures for the past five years, confirming that the 28 candidates registered for the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination are bona‑fide students of the school. It also identified the abducted principal, Elder Daniel Iyamaa, and examination supervisor, Solomon Audu, as state civil servants. The kidnapping of five persons linked to the examination prompted a rescue operation that saved four of the victims. NECO’s response aimed to protect the integrity of the examination process and the school's reputation.
