A viral TikTok trend encouraging users to microwave gel‑filled NeeDoh squishy toys has led to dozens of serious injuries across the United States. Children in Alabama, New York, Illinois and Georgia have suffered second‑ and third‑degree burns after the toys exploded, sending hot, viscous gel onto their skin. Hospitals reported cases ranging from facial burns to extensive burns requiring skin grafts and prolonged wound care.

Medical professionals and fire officials have issued warnings, urging parents to discuss the danger of heating the toys and to monitor social‑media content. The manufacturer, Schylling, has added safety warnings to product packaging and is working with platforms such as TikTok to remove videos that promote the misuse. The Consumer Product Safety Commission has been contacted for a possible investigation, but has not confirmed any action.
