NEET Paper Leak Probe Extends Custody of 13 Accused Amid Student Protests
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) continues probing the NEET UG 2026 paper leak, the country’s largest medical entrance exam. Following a hearing at Delhi’s Rauj Avenue Court, the judicial custody of all 13 arrested suspects, including alleged mastermind P.V. Kulkarni, was extended until July 24.
The suspects comprise coaching centre operators, chemistry experts and intermediaries accused of distributing the exam paper. The CBI indicated that additional persons are under scrutiny and further arrests may follow.
The scandal has sparked nationwide student demonstrations demanding accountability for perceived corruption in the education system. Concurrently, a media analysis highlighted that 15 children of senior cabinet ministers are studying at foreign universities, intensifying criticism of policymakers amid the leak controversy.
