NEET UG Low Scores: Alternative Medical Paths and Govt College Cutoffs
The NEET UG 2026 results have been released, leaving many candidates disappointed by low marks. Guidance notes that students can still pursue careers in the medical field without an MBBS seat, including programmes such as BAMS (Ayurveda), BHMS (Homeopathy), BDS (Dental), BPT (Physiotherapy) and other allied health sciences.
For those aiming for a government medical college, the expected minimum scores are roughly 680 for AIIMS, 630‑650 for All‑India Quota seats, 590‑610 for general category state‑quota seats, 585‑605 for OBC/EWS candidates, 480‑510 for SC and 450‑480 for ST. NEET counselling is slated to occur in four rounds, with registration expected by late July or early August.
