Negeri Sembilan administration faces delays amid Exco vacancy
The DAP Negeri Sembilan has called for the immediate appointment of a new State Executive Council (Exco) to prevent disruptions to state administration. Party chairman J Arul Kumar noted that the absence of Exco meetings for approximately three weeks has raised concerns regarding decision-making processes, particularly concerning administration, finance, and government policy.
Arul Kumar emphasized that while the Menteri Besar retains the power to manage daily affairs, certain matters require collective decisions through the State Executive Council Meeting (MMK). He also expressed concern over the preparation of the Negeri Sembilan 2027 Budget, noting that portfolio-specific requirements must be discussed before being presented to the State Legislative Assembly.
In a related development, certain representatives have been permitted to re-enter Wisma Negeri, though currently only in their capacity as elected representatives (ADUN) rather than Exco members. This follows reports that the appointments of 10 Exco members were previously revoked through state gazetting, leading to restricted access to the administrative building.
