Negeri Sembilan state election campaign heats up as parties unveil manifestos and voter outreach plans
Barisan Nasional (BN) is set to launch its manifesto titled “Sambung Yang Tergendala” for the upcoming Negeri Sembilan state election, with Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan saying it will continue the agenda stalled after the 2018 defeat.
Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders, including Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu and Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, stress that the campaign will focus on jobs, affordable housing and avoiding race‑based rhetoric, urging voters to turn out on August 1.
PH candidate Mohd Hanis Alimin is targeting overseas voters, using social‑media content and house‑to‑house visits to bring back residents working elsewhere.
UMNO chief Jalaluddin Alias reassured non‑Malay communities that the BN‑Perikatan Nasional (PN) cooperation in Negeri Sembilan will not marginalise them, while UMNO vice‑president Wan Rosdy emphasised that the pact is limited to this state.
DAP secretary‑general Loke Siew Fook warned that a successful BN‑PN alliance in the state could be tested as a model for the next general election (GE‑16).
Voter sentiment surveys show demand for approachable representatives, more jobs, 30,000 new homes and 20,000 jobs, reflecting local priorities ahead of the August 1 poll.
