Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar delays new exco appointments
Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Ismail Lasim has postponed the appointment of new state executive council (exco) members pending a Federal Court ruling. The court is scheduled to hear a constitutional challenge on December 16 regarding the validity of the revocation of 10 former exco members' appointments by the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir.
The former members lost their positions after claiming the removal of the ruler in April was legitimate. The palace, however, viewed those actions as inconsistent with their oaths of loyalty to the royal institution.
Ismail also dismissed rumors regarding his potential resignation, stating he maintains the full support of the 24 other government assemblymen. He noted that his current priority is finalizing the 2027 state budget, which is expected to be tabled on November 27.
