Negeri Sembilan political crisis threatens state administration and economy
The Negeri Sembilan chapter of the People's Justice Party (PKR) has warned that an ongoing political and administrative crisis in the state could severely impact the local economy and the lives of citizens. The party expressed disappointment regarding the Menteri Besar's stance, which they claim is not aligned with the directives of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir.
The crisis stems from the revocation of appointments for 10 executive council (exco) members by Tuanku Muhriz on September 20. The palace stated the members breached their oaths of office following a joint statement that purportedly affirmed the removal of the ruler, an action deemed invalid by the Attorney-General’s Chambers and the state's customary council.
PKR warns that the resulting uncertainty regarding the state's executive council could delay critical approvals for investments, land transfers, and project implementations. This instability threatens investor confidence, employment, and the functions of grassroots institutions like the Village Development and Security Committees (JPKK).
