Neil Peart Documentary 'No One’s Disciple' Premieres on CBC

CBC’s documentary "Neil Peart: No One’s Disciple" premieres on September 23 as part of the network’s The Passionate Eye series. Directed by Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn, the film combines rare archival footage, live performances and new reflections to chart the life, musicianship and private personality of Rush’s late drummer and primary lyricist.

Interviews with bandmates Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson are joined by celebrated drummers Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Stewart Copeland (The Police) and Danny Carey (Tool), who perform Rush classics alongside Lee and Lifeson. The documentary also highlights Peart’s lyrical influences, his authorial work and his relentless pursuit of musical improvement. Peart died in January 2020 after a private illness; Rush concluded touring after their 2015 R40 Tour. The band’s recent “Fifty Something” tour, featuring drummer Anika Nilles, continues to honor his legacy.
