Neil Young and The Chrome Hearts Release New Album 'Second Song

Neil Young announced that his band the Chrome Hearts will issue a new studio album titled Second Song on September 18. It is the ensemble’s second LP and follows their 2025 debut Talkin’ to the Trees.

The record was captured on analog tape at Rick Rubin’s Shangri‑La Studios in Malibu, California, and produced by Lou Adler together with Young and Niko Bolas (the “Volume Dealers”). It comprises seven songs – five newly written pieces and two previously unreleased tracks from Young’s early 1960s archives, newly recorded with the current lineup.

The title track, an 11‑minute acoustic‑electric piece, was previewed with a lyric video. The Chrome Hearts lineup includes drummer Anthony LeGerfo, bassist Corey McCormick, guitarist Micah Nelson and keyboardist Spooner Oldham. The album will be issued by Reprise Records.
