Neil Young and The Chrome Hearts album release
Overview
Neil Young and his band, The Chrome Hearts, announced the upcoming release of their second studio album, ‘Second Song’, scheduled for September 18. The album was recorded on analog tape at Rick Rubin’s Shangri-La Studios in Malibu and produced by Lou Adler, Young, and Niko Bolas.
The project consists of seven songs, including five new compositions and two tracks from Young’s early 1960s archives. In anticipation of the release, the band released a new version of the song ‘Casting Me Away From You’, a track Young believes dates back to 1964 or 1965. This rendition, described as having a ‘lonesome, countrified sound’, differs from a 2009 archival version and was made available via the Neil Young Archives website accompanied by a video featuring footage from the early 1970s.
