Nemzeti Sportrádió ceases broadcasting due to costs

Nemzeti Sportrádió has ceased broadcasting as of November 1, following a decision by its media service provider, Magyar Rádió és Televízió Nonprofit Zrt. (MRTV). The National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) stated that the station was deemed economically unsustainable.

The station, which operated on the 105.9 MHz frequency in Budapest, launched on June 14, 2024, coinciding with the opening day of the European Football Championship. Over its two-year history, it provided coverage for various sports, including competitive, para, and leisure sports, as well as youth competitions.

The frequency previously used by Nemzeti Sportrádió will be released. Its former studio space has been taken over by Petőfi Rádió.
