Neo Geo AES+ launch delayed to September 2027

Plaion Replai and SNK have announced a delay for the Neo Geo AES+ hardware, moving the worldwide launch from November 12, 2026, to September 16, 2027. The delay is attributed to unexpectedly high demand and a global shortage of memory chips driven by AI infrastructure requirements.

Despite the delay, playable units of the console were showcased at Tokyo Game Show 2026. The hardware is designed to be a faithful recreation of the original Neo Geo, featuring both modern HDMI output and legacy AV output for CRT televisions. It maintains backward compatibility with original ROM cartridges and arcade sticks.

Existing pre-orders will remain valid with no change in pricing. The standard model is priced at $249.99, while the 35th Anniversary Edition is $349.99 and the Ultimate Edition is $999.99. To reward early adopters, Plaion is offering a Founding Supporter Bonus for the first manufacturing run, including a free gamepad for certain bundles and discount vouchers for Ultimate Edition customers.
