Neo Geo AES+ hardware release delay
Overview
Plaion Replai and SNK have announced that the global release of the Neo Geo AES+ hardware has been rescheduled from November 2026 to September 16, 2027. The companies attributed the delay to demand that exceeded forecasts and global supply chain constraints regarding memory chips, which are being driven by the needs of artificial intelligence infrastructure.
To ensure a simultaneous worldwide release and avoid low availability, the companies are using the extra time to increase production capacities. While the launch is delayed, playable units were showcased at the Tokyo Game Show 2026.
The modernized console features HDMI output, legacy AV output for CRT televisions, and backward compatibility with original ROM cartridges and arcade sticks. Existing pre-orders will remain valid without price increases. To reward early adopters, the initial production run will include a ‘Founding Supporter’ bonus, which may include free gamepads or discount vouchers depending on the specific edition purchased.
